Post-it notes (and index cards) on a wall sometimes get a bad rap as a facilitation method. It’s not deserved if they’re facilitated properly using a process such as the Technology of Participation (ToP) Consensus Method, which follows patterns of thinking, feeling, intuiting, analyzing, synthesizing, and deciding.
These clusters on the wall were created in two hours by a group of eight people. It consolidated their individual ideas into cohesive, well-supported group decisions.
On the “sticky wall” are four priority areas for a strategic plan, each with 1 to 5 goal clusters. Now, this will be written in short, clear goal statements, and a strategic plan is in place with strong staff buy-in.
